Documentary/Film/Interactive Website.

This is beautiful. AND an interesting hybrid way to tell a story. Originally it was supposed to be a book but this solution seems perfect.

+ the story is just. good.

WATCH

It's made by a duo called The Goggles. They've done some other really great stuff too. Check them out!
(I found the project Facebook to be amusing and of course, quite attractive...for perhaps obvious personal reasons...)

Add on:

This one is good too! A look at the small town Main Street (s) of Canada.

From the inspiration file.

So, I've seen a lot of great stuff hanging in museums in Kansas City and Chicago over the years, including some wonderful portraits of women. These are the works that never fail to instruct and inspire:

The Penitent Magdalen by El Greco, circa 1580-5, at the Nelson-Atkins

Madame Freret-Dericour by Joseph Siffred Duplessis, 1769, at the Nelson-Atkins

Interrupted Reading by Jean Baptiste Corot, 1870, at the Art Institute of Chicago

Untitled Film Still No 14 by Cindy Sherman, 1978, at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago

Hilton Head Island, S.C., USA, June 22, 1992 by Rineke Dijkstra, 1992, at the Art Institute of Chicago

So Mama, don't take my Kodachrome away...

It was a good run Kodachrome....

I feel like there should have been a photo-department event...a funeral...on site... one giant photo-class field-trip from schools everywhere.
Ha.

I wish I had made my own homage as soon as I got home...
So proud of you Kansas!
(It would be the last place to hold on.)

Steve McCurry's Blog
Kodak gave him the last roll to be made, here are some of his shots...
Later, it will be made into a documentary. Or that's the word on the street anyway...
I just like that it features both DeNiro and Elliot Erwitt...Dripping with nostalgia? Yes!

NPR's Blog Entry
I can't wait to see Dwayne's last roll....

Chow.com's dedication of the last Kodachrome Christmas.
Wonderfully tacky and warm..

Adieu. Adios. Ciao.

Sophomores... where you at?

I think we need to get the photo sophomores interested in the blog. I'd love to see what they'd post as well as give them ideas/artists/possible directions they could go. Just something I was thinking about as I read through what Chelsea has posted for all of us as well as things that may interest us personally and how helpful she was, and still is.
